Q: When and where is the mission trip?
A: The mission trip is scheduled for Monday, October 12, 2026 – Friday, October 16, 2026. The build will take place in Acuna, Mexico.
Q: Who can participate in the mission trip?
A: This is a mission trip is for adults including high school students who are 15 years and older.
Q: What exactly does this mission trip entail?
A: The purpose of this mission trip is to construct a home for a local family in Acuna.
Q: I have no building or construction experience; can I still participate?
A: Of course, you can! No prior experience is necessary, although if you do have experience it will come in very handy. There will be a Casas’ representative on site to assist us. The process is all very well laid out with easy-to-follow instructions.
Q: What costs can I expect if I want to participate?
A: We expect each participant to cover $281 with each additional family member subtracting $100 per person.
Other costs will include money for meals on the road, possible snacks after the work day, and whatever you want to spend if there is a souvenir shopping opportunity.
Also, if you don’t have a passport then you will need to secure a passport card or book.
Estimated Cost Breakdown per individual:
Meal plan $34 per person per day ($136)
Housing $25 per person per day ($100)
Medical Card $25 per person
Travel Insurance in Mexico $25
TOTAL: $260 per person that does not include van rentals, gas, or cost of building the house
Q: What sort of accommodations can we expect?
A: We will stay at a local church in Acuna, Mexico. Each person will need to bring an air mattress or cot as no beds are available.
Q: What will there be to eat?
A: Breakfast and dinner will be prepared by the local Casas kitchen team. For lunch, the build participates prepare sandwiches before heading to the job site. In some cases, the family receiving the house may prepare a traditional Mexican meal for the participates, but this is not guaranteed or expected. Additionally, there may be time to stop at the local Mexican “corner store” for local sodas, chips, cookies, etc.
Q: What do you need to bring?
A: Bible, Pen, Air Mattress/ Cot, Sleeping Bag, Pillow, Personal Toiletries, Casual Clothes for the week, Old Clothes for the worksite: long work pants, Long sleeved shirts, hat/ bandana), Passport Card or Passport Book, Tool Belt/ Nail Apron, Work Gloves, Protective Eye Wear, Insulated water container, Sunblock, Chapstick, Hammer – no smaller than 16 oz, Carpenter’s Pencil, 25 ft tape measure, and utility knife.
Q: Has anyone from FCC Sapulpa done this before?
A: Yes- FCC Sapulpa has taken several trips to Acuna with Casas Por Cristo.
Q: What if I can’t go but want to support the mission?
A: FCC Sapulpa is fully responsible for all costs associated with the building of the home. This includes the $12,000+ for the home materials, all transportation costs, food, accommodations including that provided by Casas, and donations to our Casas missionary and our kitchen team. Please consider helping with raising money for this trip, including a Pancake Feed on Sept 13 from 9-10:20am. There will also be an opportunity to purchase housewarming gifts; gift selection will be available at the Pancake Feed.
